Those of you who show your birds.

What do you transport the birds to and from in? I've been at a few shows and I've seen a guy selling 'boxes' or 'crates' that he made out of cheep paneling and hardware cloth. I've also seen online some pretty fancy 'cages' that some folks use.

I guess my real question is -- does anyone think there is a market for a nice, well built transport cage?

Never mind! Just looked it up. I think one of my hens had it before and I scraped it out on the spot.

We are loving our chicks, they are five weeks old now. Can't wait to get our first egg.

No! I keep checking to see if my youngsters have left me any little blue presents. Can't wait!

Here's another Evil Mom event. I don't have a water system yet for my birds, so I have a big plastic tub out there with water in it. My 5yo son likes to pour dirt in it. So finally I made it his job to check it every day to make sure it is clean and full. He has to be dressed first. <insert maniacal laugh here>

OK well I'm leaving for the day and since the big girls are starting to lay, we're confining them to the coop and run for a few weeks to ensure they lay in nest boxes and not somewhere hidden on the half acre. I now need to bring down a huge fan to point into the run during these hot days or my birds are going to die. How come one of my girls seems so much more affected by the heat? She seriously has her mouth open HUGE and breathes really fast all day long on the hot days, and everyone else seems to do just fine, with very little panting these days.
