Here's a great chance to help out area food banks and get into the Evergreen State Fair for free.
Anyone who shows up at the fair's two Fridays, August 24 and August 31, between when the gates open at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. with three cans of food will get into the fair for free as part of the Food Cares Food Drive.
KOMONews.com, KOMO-TV and KOMO Newsradio are major sponsors of the food drive this coming Friday, August 24.
All of the food collected will be distributed by the Snohomish County Food Bank Coalition to food banks throughout the county. The group helped over 100,000 families in the county in the past year.
It's the perfect chance to get into the fair for free and help out people in the county. How perfect is that?
Don't forget that the first day of the Evergreen State Fair is this Thursday. The first three hours that it is open on Thursday are free, as well!

Rainy Day Chicken - I sent you a PM a few days ago in response to yours about your Australorps and Wyandottes. My Mother/Daughter friends are very excited about your birds and would like to contact you. Could you please send me some contact information so they can get in touch with you?
Thanks!

We're watching the most spectacular lightning storm over the lake. It is really pretty.

We've been at Arrow Point for 4 nights total now - and we have yet to take our kids to the pool here or the public beach. We've been too busy with all the planned activities. We planned to do that this morning before we left - I don't think that will happen. We can't complain - the first 11 days of our vacation were warm and comfortable (high 70's/low 80s). It's kinda cute... DH and the kids are all laying on the Murphy bed staring out the living room window watching the lightning. Every few minutes I hear "ooh... did you see that one?"

FirewifeJess... we'll to get down to the pool/beach to at least snap a photo for ya!

I haven't heard from your friends about the Olive Egger I have. Did they change their minds? It's OK if they did, but I'd just like to plan for it if she's gonna be leaving us.

"Johnnie."
"Yes, teacher."
"If there are twenty Chickens in a field, and one gets out through a hole in the fence, how many Chickens are left in the field?"
"None, teacher."
"Johnnie, there are still nineteen Chickens left in the field. Obviously you don't know arithmetic."
"Sorry, teacher, but I do know arithmetic. Obviously you don't know Chickens."

Good one greg!!!

The chicks spent their first night in the new coop. It's not completely finished, but it is very predator proof. They loved it. I will post pics later.

My dd friends want to come help paint it when we get done. We are getting our house painted at the end of Sept and thought it would be cool if we did the coop in the same colors.

A big thank you to all the helpful info from all of you :)

Whew! Chores done for the day; kitchen clean, whole house vacuumed, kids cleaned the bathroom, put away dishes, folded laundry and put it away, made their beds, got dressed, swept the kitchen floor. Good job kidlets! My job is so much easier and we have a lot of fun doing jobs all together in the morning. I'm glad we finally started doing a system that works for us! Now they're playing outside. John already checked for eggs and brought one in the house! Now we can relax the rest of the day and I can continue making plans for our vacation :)
