I'm getting frustrated. I'm still only getting one egg a day (a couple of times, 2 eggs; a couple of times, no eggs) and they've been laying for 9 days. Am I just being way too impatient? There's only 3 that have started so far and they're all (well, most of them) almost 21 weeks. I guess I thought that once someone started they'd all kinda fall in line and start laying right away. Probably got some bad info somewhere along the line on that huh?

At least your getting some.... I let everyone out of the coop and they have been literally "free ranging" and yea, I found three a month or so ago, I haven't had decent eggs in over a month!! I can't figure out where they are laying them!!

And I KNOW I have plenty of hens that should be laying bunches of eggs!

Hang in there, with the weather and all, as long as they have a nesting box they should start laying consistently soon, but, then fall is coming up, I can't remember if you said you were going to use light or not? I have, and it works pretty well. I will have to this year, to get back to consistent egg production.

OK here's the setup! And today's eggs so far...2 and counting! Woohoo!
Inside the coop, nest boxes at back, roosts up high over the poop shelf:

John, happy we got 2 this time!

Scarlett's egg today was a Lg/XL egg on the scale! See it next to some Smith Brother's Farms Lg eggs in the carton?? Awesome! Probably double yolker, her other large one was:

Oh I think it's a wonderful set up!! Very nice! Good job!

Your girls should be very happy indeed!

You should stop goofing off, put the paper work away and go fishing already. Life is too short. Relaxation is more important than the work at hand at times. This is one of those times, it you put it off you have to wait for the next year's run.
Oh they will be back...............and the Coho still are not coming in not to mention the winter tseelies.
I have been sitting here finishing paperwork for 3 days waiting on 2 last bids...................................................

Well, my black Muscovy hen started hatching ducklings yesterday, and she left one behind! Terry went out and the poor thing was pipping and by the time he got done milking it was out and very cold, so he brought it in, and I warmed up the bator, it's getting dry now and starting to move around a bit.

Thank God it's cooler today! I can actually see the mountain! Haven't seen it in months!! Gotta trip down to Walla Walla for a weight bearing Xray so Seattle will finally give me a ortho consult!! Yea, I'm not going there, too much to tell and suffice it to say, it's crap!!

anyway, hope it's cooler for everyone,
sorry you didn't go fishing CL wish I could go too!!

That happened to me in the yard a couple times before I realized I needed to rotate the waterer with the spout on the down hill (if it wasnt perfectly level) to stop it

Now I have a level concrete block in the run for the waterer.
We have that same issue rotating the chicken tractor all over the acerage, so we carry foundation stakes to level the water font.
