Oh gosh, she's not bad! She's a lot darker than most hatchery "RIRs"!

I know, it's hard to appreciate "boring old solid colored birds" when Robin comes on here and posts pics of them Chanteclers!! LOL

My australorps are solid black and I think they're beautiful! Plus, it's not just about looks. My four young ones are the sweetest things; they pile up on the porch and wait for me to come outside to pet and hug them. They're only a barred rock, two australorps and a black star, but I think they're better than any fancy-feathered "pretty" bird!

Thanks! For Spring chicks OR eggs, contact me in December / early January to get on the list, I don't start my waiting list until late December, but the earlier you get on it, the better. I wasn't able to fill everyones "wants" for LF this year....

I would love to have a couple of your LF birds to start my flock. I am thinking I'll be ready this fall/winter. Will you have any available around October or November?

I grew up watching Tom Baker as the Doctor. He will forever be Dr Who to me. I liked David Tennant. Haven't got to see much of the new Doctor since we moved after the season finally and don't have that channel anymore. I will say that Doctor Who did something no horror movie could ever do. Actually freak me out. After that Weeping Angels episode I can't stand angel statues. We watched that episode when we were living at Mom's and she has a whole bunch of angel statues outside. Right out side the room we slept in.


So I'm down to 10 eggs under the broody brahma. One of my easter eggers kept climbing in with her and trying to steal the nest and had broken 3 of the 14 I gave her so I moved her. I changed the batteries in my flashlight tonight and amazingly could see in dark eggs again. One egg was clear so I removed it. Some of those had been in the fridge for a while so I wasn't expecting all to grow.

I may lose one still. When I made her get off the nest to eat yesterday, I checked her eggs like normal. One was cracked a little like someone stepped on it wrong. Nothing pushed in, just cracked. Membrane was good. I waxed the crack lines and am hoping it makes it. Just 9 days to go to hatch day. It's still going strong tonight, it was moving in there when I looked. I don't have an incubator or I'd have taken it out. She's actually pretty careful where she steps for such a big bird. It's likely someone tried to get in there with her again. It's my fault because I kept them locked up longer because some brats were hiding their eggs again.

It looks like most of them are starting to molt now. They are being weird about it this year and just molting very slow and still laying, though it's slowed down a little. My silkie/EE hen was the first to start and is almost done. Only a couple pale spots from old feathers on her.

My silkie cockerel apparently did figure out what he was doing before the one silkie pullet went broody. It looks like two of the eggs are growing. I thought they were all infertile and was just going to let her set and give her a couple of chicks from the brahma's clutch. So I may have a couple new silkies in 2.5 weeks
