Oh, and anyone who's curious, here a pic of me from earlier this week. My friend drove me out through a few little old logging towns in the foothills of the Cascades, and I can't remember which one this is. Can anyone tell me? LOL.

And here is the best boyfriend on the planet, at whose house our chickens reside, and who is the primary chicken care-taker and soon-to-be new-coop-builder so I can add more chickens! We're huge Seattle Storm fans, and here he's showing off the Sue Bird jersey I got him for his birthday the night before at a Storm game:

Just thought I'd give a proper introduction since I've started participating so much here lately.

Why the heck did you cut down that big tree? I think you're in a world of trouble.

Cute picture!

Soooo, I noticed that my beautiful tomatoes were being pecked at by something - and I didn't think really that the robins, etc., actually picked at tomatoes. My tomatoes are hanging upside down from milk jugs on my back porch near my hot tub. I finally gave up on my tomatoes and stopped watering them, because I wasn't able to eat ANY of them.

Come to find out it was PRINCESS KATE!!!! I was in the hot tub yesterday mng, she came around with her babies and started jumping at the tomatoes!!! Silly bird!!

I have one remaining.

One killed her self last year trying to fly straight up from under the coop. Broke her neck. Early the spring the Splash died unexpectedly. She had never laid an egg for me, so I wonder if that had anything to do with it. The one I have remaining has 3 chicks about 6 wks old. She went broody so I gave her 6 eggs.

What did I learn from all this? I don't like how flightly ameracuana (sorry for spelling that wrong) birds are.
I found the same thing! Stupid spastic birds! lol Sorry you lost two, I lost my entire flock except for one lone banty hen. This summer hasnt been kind to me or my chickens. I'll start over next spring, and just stick to hatchery or barnyard birds.

Quote: Actually in all seriousness, it was really generous of SadieSue to loan me her really nice Brinsea bator, ovascope and so on, and listen to me go on about the eggs and the candling and the chicks and yadda yadda yadda (my first time hatching). This is an example of the wonderful folks we have here on BYC. Thank you Dana, and I really hope the new porcelain is a girl!
