Anyone making a trip out this way this weekend?

I have someone wanting to buy a pair of GLC's from me...but Audrey just got her shots this morning, DH is working at the football game tonight and Cash is still recovering--so I can't really go anywhere.

We were planning to go to Moses Lake tonight to go camping and pick up my wheat, but now we're going to do a quick day trip, tomorrow....and DH doesn't want to "drag chickens" around with us...he says it will be bad enough with Audrey (who HATES car rides and shrieks the entire time), Cash who is on drugs and has to pee every 20 minutes and everything else we have going on...

This person is from Sammamish and is going to be in Cle Elum but it looks like, only for tomorrow...so if you're coming over this way and heading back that way, I could use a chicken transporter. :)

Ok I finally caught up...good grief it took hours !
I am supposed to be playing with plywood right now~~~~~~~~
Went to the flooring store and picked out flooring so we have a bid on that now...and got the bid for siding, so I can add up costs for a balance we need to submit for the Owner/Building loan to get "buttoned up" before fall rains get here (hopefully!)

Got my R/C Light Brown Leghorn eggs this morning & they look like their air cells are in better shape than last shipment, and will be set tonight with assorted Blue Copper marans eggs under the Crele Chantecler...will be interesting to get a crele "marans" type dark egg layer....CLOVER LEAF made me do it.

But as long as the incubator is on, and holds 216 eggs, why not add a few extras ??????????

You can get into serious trouble very fast with a cabinet incubator !!!
Outside of that, more work to do on the stairs in the house, and tomorrow is butcher day for the Cornish X cockerels, next week end for the pullets as they are a tad smaller than the males.

OK, HI TO EVERYONE & talk to ya all later !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great to see T-Hi and CCG and Cheryl back again !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What kind of flooring are going to get? We finally found a 100% waterproof plastic flooring for our kitchen. It looks like real wood, and installs like the snap in laminate flooring. I have wait until DH gets home at the end of September before it gets installed.

I was thinking that it didn't apply to me, then I read the definition. It's been confirmed that I am truly crotchety old woman.

Thank you for the pictures of your gorgeous girls. I am happy that your back too. I had been thinking about you recently, and had been wondering about how the girls were doing.

We're all doing well. Broke but the bills are paid, animals fed, food on the table, and a roof over our heads! Girls are healthy, and very demanding of time. lol My DH has managed to keep himself out of trouble. Still working for myself, just went back to work after a month long forced vacation, we didnt go anywhere though. Well we did go to my brother wedding out in Port Orchard. That was nice, and I wish I still had CGG's number, my brother lives 2 miles away from her. Could have stopped in and said hello.

Just figured I'd add myself. I'm Lori in Lynnwood, WA, soon to be moving (hopefully, darned house-buying process) up to Everett into an actual house where I can have a few backyard chickens. Hiya Washingtonians! :)

BTW, what is the closest hatchery to Washington? I don't want my peeps travelling too far since I'm looking for started pullets instead of chicks to begin with.
Welcome to the thread. I hope you feel free to jump in and join us.

I believe that the closest hatchery is Dunlap in Idaho. I also believe that they are the hatchery that had a problem with Salmonella this year. But I haven't confirmed that, and as far as I know all chickens carry Salmonella. They don't have a very large selection of breeds though.

I bought my meat birds from this hatchery this year. http://www.schlechthatchery.com/ I have never been happier with the quality of chicks. The chicks were the healthiest and most robust chicks I have ever bought. Most of the time it doesn't seem to make a huge difference with shipping distances. The only hatchery I has super happy with was one in Texas.

I hope you get your house!

Not sure which hatchery is closest but lots of folks here could probably set you up with started pullets.

Hmmm, I realize of the six Ameraucanas I bought at the poultry show in March, four were boys too! It will be interesting to see if my Silkies are the same. I'll just be annoyed if I don't get a single blue female out of the bunch!
