Hello friends,
I've been lurking for months and I've noticed we have so many new people.
A belated welcome to you all!
Some of you know my son was overseas. I'm so happy to report that he's back, safe and sound.
Which means I'm up for a party!
Who wants to get together?
The photo is of my first year "cottage" garden. Mostly fragrant flowers, herbs, strawberries, raspberries, blueberries and the yummiest Italian plums.
So delicious to go out and water the gardens these beautiful September mornings!

Something is funky with the coloring and feathering of that Light Brahma rooster.
Thankfully I've got a lead on a guy who will sell me 10 show quality Light Brahma eggs - $35 for the eggs/shipping combined. The birds he shows on his ad are beautiful and, from what I've learned about Light Brahma's, they probably are winning birds. The question will always remain - are the birds he's showing online really his birds.
Now I just have to convince a very unconvinced DH that we really do need more Light Brahmas. At first he didn't seem to care when I mentioned ordering hatching eggs. Now that we're getting closer to Friday, the day I'm supposed to let this guy know if I want them, he's suddenly convinced that our 3 are enough and he doesn't think Drama will outgrow her coop. Tomorrow we go to the fair to look at chickens. I'm hoping he catches chicken fever.

WOW looks like I will probably be around a lot longer than a bunch of you youngin's ! Yer all eatin too healthy to outlive me. All that health food and no good survival food. You know what I mean, chips, cookies, pastry's, candy etc.

You should talk to Chickielady. She is gluten free and makes all sorts of amazing baked goods.We arent 100% dairy free. Im a drop host for raw grass fed organic milk. Were workin on gluten, but man... I love my bread
Vegans don't eat any animal products at all. No meat. No eggs. No honey. My niece is a staunch vegan. It is amazing what she won't eat. Now that I found out I'm allergic to eggs, I realize why she won't eat certain foods that I thought didn't have anything against her diet. Eggs are in a lot of foods that you would never expect them to be. But, I will say, she has been very helpful in helping me find foods that I can eat - if I can bring myself to ordering the vegan cookbooks that she recommended.

Your garden is beautiful. Depending on when you have the get together, I would be up for it.
Reber Ranch doesn't buy vaccinated chicks. They explained why - but I was a brand new chicken mom, and I can't for the life of me remember why. Since my first three are not vaccinated, any that I hatch won't be, either.
