Hah, the lipstick idea is great! I'm not sure I could handle applying it to a chicken's butt, though. I'd be laughing too hard.

Imagine this in your mind:
You have 10 or so old lipsticks, various colors.
You document which color you put on which hen...then you waite
The next day you get the eggs and know which hen is laying which egg by the color of lipstick is on the egg !

I keep 'seeing' hens running around with big Rolling Stones type lips on their rear ends...............

I have 6 more from Maria Hall in the next pen, a bit younger.
One day they will all be in the big coop.

If you are not eating gluten, and get tested for celiac disease, you will get a negative diagnosis.
You MUST be on gluten to have your immunal system generate the antibodies to it...and therefore the test will be positive.
They call it the "Gluten Challenge"

I eat gluten - and had been, when I was tested (both before the Celiac testing during the colonoscopy and before the allergy testing). Both doctors are very sure I'm not gluten intolerant. Our whole family eats gluten. I meant I was considering trying a gluten-free diet because of my mom's known true gluten allergy and because of what I see happening to my daughter.

Implementing that would be difficult though, since I am allergic to eggs, nuts, cinnamon, garlic, and pork. As it is, I'm struggling to find foods that I can eat without getting sick, and the thought of trying to remove gluten as well, is intimidating.

OK I better get back to work....later space fans...................................

Oh here is a pic of that wolf spider that popped out from the unfinished sheetrock in the cabin's kitchen.....a good 3" across as it sat there !!!!!!!!!

I can understand that !
You here have all briefly met farmgirl.........she has 4 kids, the older 2 are fine, as is she & her hubby.
her 2 younger sons however, are deathly allergic to milk, and ALL meat but turkey & salmon, ALL grains, including rice, and some veggies.
They were OK on breast milk, and coconut milk, fruits, some veggies, turkey & salmon.
Think of the work cut out for her as a Mom !

Have you looked into Candida issues?
Doctors arent typically trained to connect those symptoms, but they are all signs of candida overgrowth. Itd be worth looking into.

I'm highly allergic to all molds. My allergist did confirm that. I didn't add that to my list, because, well, my list of allergies is just too long. I'm not supposed to eat anything manufactured with molds - including cheese. But, cheese is currently my main source of protein in the morning since I can't eat eggs - so removing that is not happening like it should. The list my allergist gave me on what I "could" eat was so ridiculously small - it is just not feasible to live that way.

Those diets are rough on mom. I know...mine are all allergic to gluten, dairy, and soy

We eat a Paleo diet because of it. I love my cookbooks though, they're lifesavers!

My vegan niece recommended some books for me to help with the egg allergy. I *know* I should buy them. I haven't brought myself to buy them because... well, because they are vegan! LOL! I guess I better just get over it, and get it.

Renee - suddenly I can't find the list you posted on what you can't eat. Can you concisely post it again so I can compare it to my morning Shakeology ingredients? Would you be interested in a morning shake that is ALL the vitamins and minerals you need for the day, plus SO many other fruits, veggies, etc? They're a bit pricy but it might be worth the tradeoff of paying $3/day for your breakfast rather than go hungry, be frustrated, or search for other pricy alternatives to eat for breakfast (like the gluten free bakery muffins). Just a thought. I'd love to help you out and for the record, Shakeology keeps me so full all morning that I'm often not even ready for lunch when the kids are. You can have it with any form of milk or water, even juice too! Isaac has the ingredients list with him right now because he's trying to see if a friend wants to use it too, but he's on his way home.

What the heck is it with my household lately? Now the cat is going to be expensive.

He's been losing weight, so the vet ran a full blood panel and urinalysis, and called me today to say his hyperthyroidism has come back. I called the Feline Hyperthyroid Clinic, and since it's been so long since he had his radioiodine therapy (like 7-8 years, I think?), he only has a "limited warranty", and the treatment is half price. So, next week we get to drop off the cat, shell out $500, and a few days later pick up a radioactive cat.

I really, really, really hope the chickens will cost less to keep than the cat and dog!!!
