As of right now Iron Imagery plans to be there as a vendor.

I'm probably going to get crucified for this, but I'm kinda creeped out by the fact that RaZ's post about dogs v. children is getting support here. If you choose to have sex and it results in a child, then providing for that child is YOUR responsibility, no matter how you may feel about that child's other parent. Let's stop blaming women for unwanted children. Let's stop poo-pooing the institution of child support. I think if your child is in prison, you should take a good look at YOURSELF, not blame someone else or whine about how much money you had to shell out. Did anyone ever tell you kids would be cheap?!?

Raz may regret spending the money on his stepson rather than his dog, but he did put his stepson before the dog.

I think the supprot is for the idea that dogs are worth their expense.

Honestly, I didn't take his post as anti-human and certainly not chauvinistic. Go ahead and view me as naive (it's not the first time)!! It seems like he was making a statement as to how his dog caused him less problems than his stepson. I have no idea what his entire situation with his step-son is so I refuse to judge him as a dad. I would have to agree that, for me anyway, dogs can be less stressful and easier to be around. Puppies are far easier to raise, haha!! That being said, although I love my dogs IMMENSELY I would never choose their welfare over my daughter's. But I'm sure that goes for virtually everyone!

In fact last night I was doing some cleaning and discovered a plaque that DD had made for us for my last dog. The final date was 8/29/07. It still caused me to pause and reflect for a few minutes.
Unfortunately, I can't even pet dogs or cats without getting rashes. I can't keep them near me, much less snuggle with them. It makes it hard to consider them family.

Are you kidding? Silly? No way. I still think of my 1st dog Rex (who actually became my Mom's dog). Then there was Duke the mild mannered German Sheppard (except when it came to a particular mailman) and then there was Teddy a magnet for ticks but a great dog of hound/dauchaund extract, and then there was Fred and then Jocko. All of which I laid to rest and still feel the loss. Now of course I have Jake but he will never replace the ones that went before him just as the others never replace the one before them. They all have a place in my heart and will remain there.
Some people never experience that special bond between themselves and "their" dog. It is unique and special.

I'm not judging anyone as a parent, calling anyone any names, or anything like that. The post just rubbed me the wrong way, that's all. It came off as extremely bitter and angry towards someone's child who is unfortunate enough to be in prison, for goodness' sake.

I'm not sure what the point is of debating whether or not dogs are worth the expense. There is no universal answer to that question! It depends on the dog/s, the owner/s, and the circumstances, obviously! Some people hate dogs, some people love 'em. Some folks are allergic. Some people prefer big dogs or little dogs or fluffy dogs or smart dogs or any number of characteristics. Some dogs are easy to raise, some give you all kinds of trouble, even if they are sweet. For various reasons, I can't have a dog of my own, but my BF has one he shares "custody" of with his former girlfriend and her new wife, who also got a second dog earlier this year. They all live in the same big house with seven (!!!) other people, so it makes sharing the dogs easy, and I'm over there at least for a little while more days than not, so the two dogs both respond to all four of us as owners. They are like children to us! You know how a lot of the folks in this thread like to talk about their kids' challenges and personal development and what parenting techniques work best for which kids? That's exactly how we talk about our dogs! Both of them are rescues, so they are extremely sweet but they definitely have "issues". One was born in Taiwan and lived there on the streets fending for himself for the first six months of his life, and the other used to live with homeless people.

Sorry to hear you are so allergic to dogs.
Dogs and cats are also one of the many things I am allergic to but I refuse to give up dogs. It's best that I not express my feelings about cats. That is just my choice and the risk I am willing to take for UNCONDITIONAL LOVE!!

I managed to build myself a cage for a bunch of little bunnies yesterday evening. I got to looking at things that are just laying around the house, and I found an old mini greenhouse. I was able to use the 4 shelves to create the 4 walls of the pen. Then I used some hardware wire, that I bought to line the bird cages with, and created a raised floor to keep them out of their own poo poo.

My new cage seems to working rather well if I don't say so myself.
