Anyone know where to get a good price on clear corrugated roofing panels? I need to cover my run before winter and $21 a panel at HD or Lowes is a bit steep especially since I would need to buy 3 of them as they are not very wide. Thanks!

I agree! I still haven't covered my run yet, because of expense, too. I'm planning to use clear, or smoke colored. I'm not sure which would be best.

I hope ya all has yer garden patches protected. See we hit 32* here at 4:10am. The only thing we got/had growing this year is a couple pear towmater plants. We have only had 1 ripe mater so far. Not even gonna be enough for me to can so I am really not gonna get too worked up about trying to protect them from frost.
I just may have to go buy me a box of mators so I can make up a batch of chunky sauce!!!

ETA  since nobody else has posted.  It is now 6:50 and 30*

After a freeze just pick all the green toms and use them for relish, pickles, etc.... I get a ton canned no matter if green or red tho I prefer ripe toms the pickles can be awesome too!

I managed to build myself a cage for a bunch of little bunnies yesterday evening. I got to looking at things that are just laying around the house, and I found an old mini greenhouse. I was able to use the 4 shelves to create the 4 walls of the pen. Then I used some hardware wire, that I bought to line the bird cages with, and created a raised floor to keep them out of their own poo poo.

My new cage seems to working rather well if I don't say so myself.

:thumbsup

IF I lose track of DW (she has had a stroke and some times gets disoriented) Quincy will search her out or if he is with her and I whistle he will lead her to me.

And lest we forget the worst part about having a dog UNCONDITIONAL love ! ! ! ! !

So sorry... that's cool that your dog helps you find your wife.  What an awesome dog!

Didn't mean any offense to dog owners here.    We have a few problem dogs in our neighborhood that are not trained, yap a lot, or are not kept on leashes.  They bug me.  I've been attacked twice by an unleashed pit bull in my neighborhood.  I developed a strong dislike (terrorizing fear) of dogs after that.  The pit bull was collected by animal control after the 2nd attack, but my fear level of any off-leash dog has not decreased.  The last dog that absolutely freaked me out was a dog that walked into my home and started running around and barking at me.  That experience just about put me over the edge.  I was in tears.  The kids were in tears.  Thankfully, my neighbor, who is good with dogs, came over and took it out.  Turned out it was a stray that had been dumped in the neighborhood.

Now, when I'm out walking, if a dog is off-leash, I'll cross the road to get away from it.  Doesn't matter what kind it is.  I'm just flat-out scared of them.

I'm sorry for your fear of dogs, but I would like to point out it is not the dogs but the owners that create these problems. As you say unleashed dogs do scare a lot of people who have had bad experiences. And that is the owners responsibility, to train, care and have a healthy happy dog that is friendly.

For some a dog is not worth the cost to feed and give them health care.... and I would rather these people do not have dogs. They do not have what is needed to have "good" dogs.
For others like me, a dog can mean independence and security as well as unconditional love and give more then they could ever cost.

I have always had and will always have dogs in my life in part due to my love for animals but also in part due to my being legally blind and deaf. If I did not have a dog with me while I slept I would not be safe since someone could come in and do what ever without me ever hearing or seeing them. (extreme tunnel vision and night blindness)

I rescue dogs that have behavioral issues and that people have mistreated/abused/neglected and tossed out.
These dogs are unstable due to not having a stable routine, clear rules and training.
I have met kids who lash out and attack others due to the same reasons so in essence I view kids and dogs in the same light.
All people and animals are in essence good but due to situations might be "bad".

The best dog I have ever had in my family was a dobbie/rott/shepard/pit/lab mix. She was the runt and weighed in at 90-100lbs. She was a Alpha personality and needed a serious owner that would not allow her to break or even bend the rules. She was a "Dangerous dog" that would let my nieces and nephews ride her like a horse, sleep on her, pull her tail and ears, and in general maul her while playing. She would also give her life protecting the family and proved it when someone tried to break into my apartment, and later my house, when someone "snuck" up behind me when I was walking and reached from me (still have no idea what that was about since she growled and he suddenly left) she protected the kids when their dad was drunk and in a PO'd mood by staying between him and the kids until he calmed down and just kept us all safe while she was alive.

For me personally dogs will always have a home with me if needed, even if I have to eat ramen and potatoes so they have what they need.
Just like kids will always have a place to sleep, food to eat, meds if needed before I do. (I've hosted a couple of "throw away" teens until they got stable and in a home that cared for them)
Sometimes I never see the changes but have heard from a couple in the past where the dog/kid got it together and became productive and I hope what I helped with started/helped that change from "bad" to "good".

This is all just my personal opinion and perspective and I understand those who do not see it same.
Peace and love to all those you touch will make ripples in the lives around you.

I'm thinking I need a house chicken.

DH has other thoughts on that. But a chicken at hand to eat spiders inside sounds very good to me.

Too bad chickens can't see in the dark! That would come in handy.

I'm really sorry. I didn't mean anything mean by my comment. I was just seeing things from my point of view, living in a neighborhood with lots of issues cropping up. We live in an urban neighborhood with small lots (10,000 sq. feet and less). The neighborhood has been changing dramatically the past few years. We are getting more and more mean dogs, who are either not trained, or are trained to attack. We have many pit bulls, german shepards, doberman pinschers and others. I love to walk, and as I walk the neighborhood, I get barked at, growled at, and have been physically attacked twice. I developed a phobia. Dogs come over to my yard and mess with my chickens. I guess it's not the dogs fault, it is the owners.

We had a hunting dog for years. He died at 15 years old. He was a good dog, but he was a trained dog. He was expensive though - vet bills, dog food, etc. I wouldn't mind another dog, if we moved away from the Casino, and lived on property that was a lot bigger than 10,000 sq. feet. I truly believe dogs need room to run and play.

Again - I'm very sorry.

At the apartments we've lived at, we've seen so many dogs that were just issues. Growling and attacking people. Off leash. Dog poo all over the place. I had so many come after me and my dummy of a little schipperke would get between them and me thinking she could scare them off. Last apartment, I had an idiot who's dog was aggressing towards my little dog who was ignoring it fully as we were on the other side of the road and going on a walk. The stupid woman let go of the leash and let the dog come attack. Not accidently, since the loop was around her wrist, she took it off and dropped it with the other hand. Then she tried to say that her dog wasn't aggressive. The thing bit my dog and me. Then, a few days later it bit a kid and we never saw it again.

My mom is afraid of dogs. She always has been. When we'd go to my relatives houses, she'd make me get out first and distract the dogs. I always played with the dogs, but Mom can't stand them sniffing her, or licking her hands or pants. The only dog she's ever really liked or petted was my schipperke because she did not jump or lick, but had been trained to stay off until told she could. That dog was so spoiled. Mom would give her treats of bits of meat that she saved for her. Mom couldn't hand them to her because she took them to quick and freaked her out, but she'd put them on the floor then tell her she could have it.

I need to take my aussie x heeler down there. I think Mom would like him. He's very quiet and is like a ghost when he takes a treat. He'll lip them off to avoid touching skin. Even though the german shepherd is very careful taking treats, she's to much of a klutz to take. She gets in the way and we can't risk mom falling with her back and knees. They were both small puppies last time she saw them.

You know... I'm not exactly sure. But my list of "don't eats" included all melons - watermelon, cantaloupe, honeydew. I'm also not supposed to have have any dried herbs. And I think strawberries were on the list. So, I'm guessing the concern is that those fruits tend to mold ??? She did mention that teas tend to mold as they dry. I just haven't been able to kick my very bad tea habit (I have tea beeping at me in the microwave as I type), cheese habit, strawberry habit and how can one NOT eat watermelon? That's just not possible!!!

If you saw the sheet they gave me, you might be surprised. That sheet knocked me down to next to nothing to eat. Granted, the one week I managed to stay 100% on my no allergen diet was the one week that I felt great - except that I started feeling run down from lack of protein.

I did manage to kick the mushroom habit. It was tough - but it didn't kill me. I can still make salads pretty w/o mushrooms in it. Mushrooms are rather brown and boring anyway.

If you haven't guessed... I'm not doing too well with the "no molds" category. Probably why I'm still struggling with a swollen throat - some days it is still pretty bad.
I have severe mold allergies in fall. There are some drops a PCC or natural remedy stores/vitamin stores that do help. You put 5-15 drops under your tongue and it helps build an immunity to the allergy response. Might be worth a try. I bought the ones for grass this year as I tend to have issues at the ocean and have felt great after only acouple of treatments this year.

Are you kidding? Silly? No way. I still think of my 1st dog Rex (who actually became my Mom's dog). Then there was Duke the mild mannered German Sheppard (except when it came to a particular mailman) and then there was Teddy a magnet for ticks but a great dog of hound/dauchaund extract, and then there was Fred and then Jocko. All of which I laid to rest and still feel the loss. Now of course I have Jake but he will never replace the ones that went before him just as the others never replace the one before them. They all have a place in my heart and will remain there.
Some people never experience that special bond between themselves and "their" dog. It is unique and special.

Not all dogs are the same!!! When you have that one unique & special dog you Know it. and you have a strong bond with them. Our dog wasn't big for a GSD about 55 lbs but she would have gave her life trying to protect the family. I remember one time we had a two mile loop we would walk. it was pitch dark out. I couldn't get my dog to cross a side street. one that we crossed almost every night. I got a little upset with her and said Come on. and pulled gently on her leash. she still didn't really want to go. When we got to the other curb there was a guy about 6ft dressed all in black and had a big black dog. just standing there scared the heck out of me. I couldn't see him but my dog did or smelled him. I listened to her from then on LOL Another time it was 3:00am I was at work and my DW had to call 911 for her Dad. when the three firemen came to our door, our dog stood her ground and wouldn't let them in! The DW had to put her in the bedroom and she almost broke the bedroom door down trying to get to out
So there are Dogs and then there are " DOGS" and when you have a DOG, they are Family LOL

sorry for my rambling! can ya tell I love my dog ? LOL

That looks awesome JB! I could use a couple of those kind of cages around here myself!
