Yeah that would be great! I know we have to be there pretty early to get the cockerels registered but if you're around (and any of our other BYC friends are included in this invitation as well) then we should definitely meet up for lunch!
Just let me know if you'll be there - I know we met once at your work when I handed over an incubator turner for you, but it's been a while!

On a better note, how is everyones chickens today?
I am really bumbed that I can't make the meet up tonight but I guess I will just have to arrange one one of these days durring the week and school hours. Any one up here (north enders or those willing to drive up here.) PM me if you are interested in a meet up durring school hours and we can see what we can come up with.

Everyone have a great night.

Hey, so I know that things are settling down now, but I just wanted to point out for anyone unaware of this, but religion is one of the things they specifically suggest AGAINST discussing on BYC, and I think we've all seen why that is now. Here's a quote from the rules:

Regarding "Freedom of Speech":
This is a very interpretable statement. BYC does NOT support "freedom of speech" in the traditional sense. You can not come on this forum and talk about adult topics, porn, drugs, hate speech, etc. We also don't allow PETA or Cock Fighting topics and discourage religious and political topics. BYC was not established as a forum of freedom of expression... there are other forums out there that allow this, but I promise 99.3% of you won't like them as much as you like BYC (for the .7% that do, they usually end up being unhappy here and some get banned).

Just a suggestion, to keep our thread the way we want it, OPEN, maybe those of us who either made religious statements, or quoted the same, might want to go back and delete or edit those posts, before everyone gets reported and the whole thread gets shut down for clean up....

Really? That's kind of sad advice.

I don't see why. If someone disagrees with you so terribly much that this forum becomes a nuisance rather than a fun place to be with like minded chicken people, why not avoid contact with someone? We all do it in real life as well. And when I say there's a Block feature it's offensive but when CR says it he's in the right? That's strange to me. He has blatantly blocked people and advertised it here. Hmm, I wonder what the difference is.

I don't dig passive aggressive. CR (like me) is openly aggressive, that I can respect.

Has anyone washed a 7 lb. bird? Drama's a mess! She's been digging in my compost bin. She's beginning to match the color of the compost. That's not very pretty on a white bird. I've washed her when she was younger, but, man, I'm nervous to attempt it now.

That's sad itsren, I'm glad your life is better now.
My mom used to tell stories like that about growing up poor in NYC.

Russ

Thanks! And my mom's life is wonderful now! In May, we moved her into a Continuing Care Retirement Facility in Oregon where she will live the rest of her life. Her apartment is beautiful. The amenities are AMAZING! Before we moved her there, we checked the floors with the higher levels of care and they were extremely clean, smelled wonderful and the staff was great. Everyone who lives there loves it. Many of the people who live there live well into their 90s. They currently have 2 residents who are over 100. For the first time ever, my mom radiates joy and feels safe. I'm so happy for her.

Because of my life experiences, I have a completely different view on many things in life. Honestly, I wouldn't trade it. When I work with youth through Scouts, I can relate to many more kids than I would be able to had I not had the experiences I have had.

My chickens were cracking me up tonight! First, when DH and I went outside, 4 of the girls were piled all over each other right next to the coop taking the craziest dust bath imaginable! They were flinging damp dirt and moss all over the place and DH thought there was something wrong with them. Then he wasn't terribly pleased and the humongous hole they dug for that particular activity, LOL. Then at 6:50 the 14.5 week olds put themselves to bed for the night! I kinda like that it's getting darker earlier because I don't feel like I have to wait until 9pm to go close the run. I wonder if they were extra tired since I got the coop lighting set up to come on at 5am...maybe they were woken up too early for their taste! Get up you lazy girls!
