That parrot is most likely unhappy for some reason. Either it has been taken from it's mate ( they matefor life) or it is very bored or craving more people interaction. or a very remote chance is lacking in vitamin/mineral dept.

It was a rescue. It was abused in it's younger years. The previous owners used to spray it with a water bottle. It started the habit of plucking itself when it lived with it's previous owner. The bird seems happy now and is quite the character, and VERY talkative. It just still has the bad habit of plucking. They have four or five rescues, they keep them in their own very large cages, in a "bird" room (a bedroom designated for the birds). The naked one is so personable, it is the only one they can trust to carry around on their shoulder, or bring outside to sit with them.

Black berry raspberry is also very good and I would be more than happy to taste test for you.

I should have made the darn pie for you guys! My kid's response was "Eeeew! It has blackberries in it. GROSS!" And they wouldn't eat it. Such appreciative children.

I have a recipe for a raspberry crisp--that would surely work with blackberries, too...if you need more "ideas." All of my raspberries & blackberries that were FINALLY starting to produce berries burned up last summer...so this summer, they spent all of their "energy" regrowing.

My raspberries are having to regrow this year, too. I don't know if they are going to come back. Last year my DH and his friend replaced some siding on our house. They trampled my "weeds" to death! Poor raspberries! When I asked them to be careful with the raspberries, they told me to get rid of them because raspberries are "just weeds". I told my husband he spent about $9 per pot on those weeds!

Yeah, she was watching all of the other "big kids" and we decided to let her try. She didn't cry at all (not even at the clowns!) and loved showing off her ribbon. Here's a picture of her showing it off to her dad.

That mutton bustin' video was so cute! How fun. She didn't look scared at all.

Warning. As those who met me Saturday for the first time will tell ya. since BYC rules don't apply. I am very opinionated and may tell ya just what I think ! ! ! !

I'll have to see if DH will be working or not. I'd love to come kid-free. It was kind of funny, just before we walked into the music store, my kid stopped, looked at me, and asked "Is it going to be noisy in there like that last place?" I told him no, not to worry. Turns out they have a drum set in there that anyone can pound on - the music store was just about as noisy as the auction! DH asked me why I didn't bring ear plugs. Doh!

Well, I guess I better get going. I don't know if I'm sending kids to school today are not. My daughter was crying last night that she didn't feel good. I tell ya - they go for months not getting sick at all - one week back at school and the whole family is feeling lousy. They've had this whole stuffy nose, sneezy thing going for a bit, now it seems to be taking a turn for the worst. Bleh!

I'm also excited to have gotten 2 new birds today! One gorgeous blue Am and an equally gorgeous, bare bottomed BCM

Gonna get some BluKote tomorrow maybe, to see if I can keep my other birds from plucking her behind even more. Seems like her skin is a bit rough, almost scab-like, so I don't know if she needs a good moisturizer (like maybe Bag Balm?) too? Anyone use that on chickens before?

She's one gorgeous blue EE. (She has yellow legs. Ameraucana chickens have slate.) She is beautiful though, and so sweet; I'm sure you'll love her. The BCM, well, she's got the personality of a Marans....
