Doesn't it? Every time I see it, it looks like a monster creeping up over the horizon, evil fingers perched on top of the hills peering over... It's a fantastic photo, but very, very frightening.

My thought exactly...heard from Heather lately ?
Did her grandparents have to evacuate ?

I just thought I may have missed her post..last she said that I saw was that they were getting ready to evacuate as the fire was within 5 miles...that has to be so smoky it would greatly harm elderly.

Well, I have once again caught up with you chatty folk.....hope all the Easterners are OK today...wishing for more rain !

I have a painting to finish today, a few coops to do some work on....Got a wayward Black java cockerel OUT of my Cuckoo pen last night under the cover of darkness..............
washed, packed & frose the green beans.....
Guess I am caught up enough on chores to go ahead and paint.
So I will log back on later.

Lasagna roll -up casserole, and you can use the greens chopped in the stuffing !

I love casseroles this time of year, soup, stews., casseroles and slow cooker recipes..YUMMY 1 dish wonders.
Make ahead & they are ready to pop in the oven when you get home.

Two of my kids and I carry them. I had to buy a bigger purse to hold all of 'em! I have to carry 2 of my own with me all the time. What really sux... you have to replace them every year. Why are those things so expensive? It is simply rediculous. I have a gallon-sized bag full of "expired" epi pens that I have to take to the Police Station to dispose of. I will be trashing $1,920.00 worth of epi pens. When you look at it that way, it is pretty sad.

Can you send some to CR? They are most certainly still good - the pharmaceutical companies stick an expiration date on them for liability reasons - but a recently "expired" epi-pen is better than no pen at all!

I am serious about getting CR an epi-pen. I have shellfish allergies and when your throat starts swelling closed it is not a pleasant experience! If nobody out there has an extra I am going to start a collection.

I have a question Since I have no clue about this. Tonight when I went to get that swarm. The lady told me that she had seen a naturapath (sp) and he "realigned her body chemistry so she wouldn't have allergies or be allergic to bees.

Has anybody ever heard of or tried such??

Kinda like realigning your chakras in Sedona, Arizona? Maybe you could just grab both contacts on your truck battery. That would realign your body chemistry.

Seriously, there is no scientific research or data to back up this type of claim. I have a science background and an open mind. While I believe that alternative medicine has a huge role to play in keeping a person healthy and alive the fact is that if this worked everyone would be doing it, it would be on the National news, in all the newspapers and news magazines. Not to mention that this naturopath would be busy starting a chain of clinics to rake in the dough he'd make from curing everyone's allergies. Contrary to conspiracy theorists most researchers do not work for pharmaceutical companies and have no stake in promoting their products.

That said there is a type of allergy treatment in which very dilute amounts of the antagonist (in this case bee venom) are injected or held under the tongue on a routine basis. Don't try this at home. The dilute amounts are 1:1,000,000 or something like that and you need to be in a facility that can treat you immediately if you go into anaphyalactic shock. That means epinephrine, adrenaline, oxygen, endo-tracheal tubes to hold your airway open, etc.

I'm working on the epi-pen CR.

Ok question time.....

I was wondering about the Mereks (sp?) vacine. I know that once you mix it you have to use it with in an hour, but if you have not even opened it how long is it good for in the fridge for. Or does it even expire as long as it is not mixed?

Well, again dropping in for a quick sec to say hello......

Life is hectic. 11 year old daughter is growing too fast.

17 year old son is all grown up (or so he thinks).

Trying to finish coops before snow flies. We will need LOTS of snow in the mountains to get all these fires out. Very scary.

Took this video to send to CL so I thought I could share here too. This is of the turkeys I bought from her this spring. They are almost all grown. Kind of long. I hope the talking on it is where it is suppose to be....Enjoy or ignore....doesn't matter. By the way this is Tom in the "thumbnail". We are original on names here. Our "back up tom's" name is "B.U.T." for - you guessed it "Back Up Tom". ...

OH WARNING!!!!!! One turkey bites the husband as he is handing out treats and SWEARS - VERY AUDIBLE. So you want to be aware of that in case of kids in the room. I would cut it out, but I am still learning this camera/video editing stuff.

That looks like the apocalypse in action!!! I was outside a lot on Fri and partly on Sat. By Sat night I started getting a tickly chest and then lost my voice. It was REALLY bad yesterday and I struggle even today to make my voice project. The cough has started to worsen. It has to be the nasty air! Thankfully, the tiny bit a rain we got yesterday settled the smoke a bit. It sucks that I have an appt with my GI Dr. today, though, as it will be hard to tell him about the issues I've been having from start to finish in my digestive system!!!

All dog and cat vaccines have an expiration date stamped on the vials. I would think yours should also. It is often very small and stamped down the side of the vial.
