I just sold my first 2 dozen eggs! My sister took one and a friend wants the other tomorrow at church. Awesome!! That's $5 to go towards feed when I head to Reber Ranch tomorrow afternoon.

And I should be able to round up more cash than that for the next time I need chicken feed, since they're laying more eggs than we can eat finally.

Anyone on here have zebra finches? I am having a couple of issues with my 3 and am not sure whether to take them into the vet or not? Essentially they caught a bug that resembled cocci and I treated them for that and then they started panting a bit so they went on tetracycline. It has been about a month now. I thought they were finally doing better so I put them back nto the main part of the house without the heat lamp and one of the boys started ripping feathers off the other male finches back. They are now back under the red heat lamp as the plucked finch was bloody and the plucking has stopped. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks!
I have zebra finches, but I have never had any notable problems with them. I hope that you can figure it out. I would coat the finch without feathers with Blue Kote. It will keep the chance of infection down.

If I was to switch back to whole grain feed from the crumble we're using now, should I ease them into it slowly? Their scratch is already Scratch & Peck whole grains so they're pretty used to that, I just didn't know if I switched their whole diet to whole grains if they'd have issues. We have tons and tons of grit in the yard and in the run (from all the sand we used).

I finally got a diagnosis for why I am having much pain and stiffness in my hips. It may explain most of the pain issues besides. I seem to have a form of arthritis called Ankylosing Spondylitis. So far what I have learned is that I am not going to have any fun with it, and I will not get any better over time. Still it is a relief to know that it is real, and not just in my head. I have spent way too many years being told, and thinking that I am somehow making up the pain. At least now I can know that there is a real reason for the pain.

I have never had any problems with switching types of food, for chickens. The only animal that I know for sure that may have a problem with food switches are dogs. most of the time dogs will only have problems with switching types of poor quality foods.

Chickens on the other hand seem to be able to eat just about anything with any troubles.

For those who like to make bread.... but hate the work of making bread......

things got to messed up here...
sigh....
No knead bread is so simple and the easiest way to make bread. We both think that it is better than the traditional way of making bread. I love to make my own bread, but I don't eat very much bread, and DH isn't home enough to bother most of the time.
