Tonight I decided I should build a fire in the stove. Since it was 27 here last night. Well I just got the fire going and guess who is laying there soaking up all the heat !!!
I love Quincy.

Here here!! I second that!!!

That's horrible!! I really don't trust ANY of them!! As a vet tech I'd rather go to a vet, at least they think outside of the box!! Although I have met a vet or two I wouldn't trust to neuter my cat!! I just think the health care system needs to be revamped, and I'm not talking in a monetary governmental way here, what I'm referring to is the way the insurance company's and pharmaceutical company's have a hold on us, and the fact that a LOT of stuff in being over charged! I have been watching frontline and some other investigative reports, it's criminal really! And that doesn't even scratch the surface of the issues with the system!
sorry your kiddo had to go through all that!!
This reminds me of when I was 17 and broke my arm. After 2+ hours in an empty ER. I got up and started for the door. The nurse ask where I was going and I said to the vet in Goldendale I knew they would take care of me. Now talk about the express lane! They had me in x-ray, back in room and seen by a doc in very short time.

LOL! yea, ya see!! My sister was diagnosed with West Nile three years ago. She had been biking to work 24 miles a day for over 4 months, she started stumbling, and getting headaches. The headaches became increasingly worse
she went to her GP and he said he thought it was meningitis, but, my question to her was, how did you get it? He hadn't even done any work up?? Well, after a weeks time, her headache was constant, she was dizzy and couldn't work, my mom and I said enough is enough and took her to the Richland ER. After a few docs had come and gone and after Iv fluid therapy wasn't working, her head ache was still severe, and we had been there 10 hours, my patience had come to an end!! They were going to release her!!!

I told the on coming Dr, "how can my sister who bikes 24 miles a day go from that to this"??? He said what? I said yea she has been biking to work, from Prosser to Sunnyside and back for 4 months and in two weeks time has gone to this state!!

I was angry and insistent!! I told him, she is NOT leaving her till someone helps her!!
He immediately set her up for a spinal tap. My husband and I were on vacation from WY so we had to go back, but she ended up in the hospital for a week, they still didn't know what was going on. Her boss is a Bovine vet, his wife is an equine vet, they were the ones that first came up with the diagnosis!!! Turns out, that the West Nile also compromised her immune system and she was also diagnosed with MS!!! It's heart breaking to watch a loved one go from being completely healthy with no health issues to this!! My sister and I aren't really close, but, she is the only sister I have and I love her dearly. The other day we were at my nephews football game and we were getting ready to leave and she turned to me and said, I want to thank you for saving my life! I said what?? She had heard about all the West Nile cases in TX and MI and how many deaths there were and she said, " I could have died"!!
I said, well, I just wasn't going to let them let you go, until they figured it out! And they ****** me off!!! It totally caught me off guard, and made me feel good that I did something to help.

I may not be a doctor, and as a vet tech I am not allowed to diagnose or do surgery, but I do know a bit about anatomy and physiology and I use that when I need to, to understand my own issues, and those of my family.
Dogs and people have the same bones and organs......HELLO!! LOL!

Also, of interest for anyone building coops or other projects, now or in the future! It's called Zero Landfill. Architects, interior designers and construction folk contribute their design samples, surplus materials, and other stuff, letting the general public take what they can use, for free. https://www.facebook.com/pages/ZeroLandfill-Seattle-October-6-2012/269942286424230
Did you go? We got there right when the doors opened and got some great stuff! I was happy that dh and the kids went afterall..I needed help carrying stuff. I think they should do it somewhere besides downtown next time. Parking was a pain, it was on the 5th floor of an office building, with narrow hallways. Very hot and crowded. When we left there was a line around the block to get in, I'm glad we got there early!

UrbanEnthusiast - I have Denagard. It's terribly expensive but it's a very strong, broad spectrum antibiotic that hens don't ever develop resistance to, and you won't have an egg withdrawl period (you can eat eggs while she's being treated, if she's still laying). I am willing to give you some if you can come to my home. PM me if you want it. I'm in Covington, 98042, off Hwy 18, or you can take 167.

Just wanted to say hello :) We have had a stretch of rotten lately. First I got hurt. Then my SIL passed after a long battle with cancer. That was 2 weeks ago. Now My Grandfather has had a massive stroke and its unlikely he will recover. Add to that all the fall time colds and such ... has made for a bum go. So Ive just been lurking and trying to Keep up with ya all :) Thats a full time job in its self..LOL
I hope you used up your quota of rotten for a good long while!

Oh, hey, just realized I need to eat the other half of my breakfast and go take a nap. I was awakened in the wee small hours of the morning by my husband's voice saying "Oh, hello, big white cow" and got to go out in the frosty starlight to chase her in and chain the gate that some trespasser did not close correctly. We were lucky that it was one cow, no calves, not the bull; it could have been 31 all together and I do not know if any of you have dealt with thirty-one shorthorns at 3:30am while wearing your nighty, Carhardt hoody, and barn shoes so old they're probably more than 50% cow manure by weight, but I have, more than once, and it's really more of a life-enhancing experience than I'm currently up to.
Good to see you again, Stumpfarmer!
I know it wasn't funny to you, but that's quite a mental image of you out chasing cattle in the moonlight!

Unbelievable!! 6 hours for a head injury?? OK so what if the concussion had been worse and they didn't know it, cause it took 6 hours to see you?? That's crazy!!

And yea, I didn't know this, but the more you use your insurance the more they don't want to cover you?? Learned that on Frontline!
My dad is 74 yrs old, he has diabetes, heart disease (pace maker) and severe hip issues. They moved back to MI to be with my grandmother, who passed away last year, anyway he had to go to the hospital over there over the 4th of July, and they messed up his insulin shots ect, he got up and started to walk out!! He has done it twice at two different hospitals because they take too long to check out or get any help!!! It's out of control!
And yea I think your right about the "for profit" hospitals.
