I just wanted to say hello! I haven't been on here in a million years... read back a few pages to try and see how everyone is doing.. nice to see familiar names and I see quite a few NEW ones! :D

UrbanE.

You might get some wood or roof stuff there. If enough tile there you might try a tile roof. I've seen your links and know you think out of the box so these items may help you. Floor items can be switched to roof also depending on type.

I was feeling all happy about passing the exam (in Puyallup at 7:30 am), came home and saw a horrific scene in my backyard that took away any good feeling I had.
So sorry about Luna, but congrats on passing the exam...I know you'll ace the last one too!

Just thought I should check in with the group. I managed to have a very bad week.
My life is being warped by my own pain and mobility problems, but I think I could manage them if my husband was not in much worse shape;

Fall always seems to be to be a time when the demands of summer back off a little and it's possible to get a handle on other stuff, but this year not so much.
I am so sorry that you are both having to deal with such debilitating pain.

JB, this week is bad but next week I may be able to come over and can help you around the house if you like. I will PM you.
Stumpfarmer, I wish I were closer, I would love to help you out too!

Never mind, I now have something else to deal with. One of the new buckeyes has a respiratory infection. Thank you for the offer, but I need to deal with this before any more birds come in the house.

No worries, I understand! I heard a beginning crow attempt this morning, so I should know soon who the boys are that will need to go bye-bye. If I have an extra pullet, I will check in with you again later to see if you're still interested.

Hope the Buckeye recovers quickly.

I just did inventory on my supplies for Salem. Right now I have 114 items not counting 28 no mess chicks. And I still have 4 days of build time left ! !!

And WHAT you ask are no mess chicks ????

They will always be little cuties. Never get any bigger. Cost nothing to keep. They don't need feed and water filled daily. They will never leave cackle spackle where ya don't want it. And best of all they will never die. five bucks each or 25 for $100 and unlike the big hatcheries I will allow a mix-n-match order. Colors may vary and limited to stock on hand.
I love the ones I got at the Monroe show! Now am saving up for a piggy planter.

Soon as I woke up this morning I drove up to my BF's to check on Salma the injured Welsummer. Her eye goo is about the same. I have not put any more ointment on it since I was advised that it might be the wrong thing. I could not get her to eat or drink anything, so I put her outside and she is definitely a bit more energetic than yesterday. She's not foraging or running around like usual, but instead of just staying in one spot, she's slowly following the rest of the flock around the yard. I'm not too surprised she wasn't hungry or thirsty given how much she ate and drank yesterday: she had at least a whole scrambled egg as well as some apple and a bunch of Pedialyte and water. I'm going to give her a little while longer to act like a real chicken outdoors, then try to get some more food and water in her.

Ugh, in the process of writing this I had to jump up and rescue her from our mean blue mutt, Gertrude. Salma actually lost her spot as flock leader about a month ago to Gertrude, and Gertrude has taken to mounting Salma like a rooster as a show of dominance. She does not subject anyone else in the flock to such treatment but Salma. Poor Salma was being handled pretty roughly when I finally broke it up. Clearly I need to supervise the flock whenever Salma is outdoors until she recovers. I'm so mad at Gertrude!!!

One thing I'm a bit worried about is that the Baytril we got from the neighbors was prescribed in July 2010. Does anyone have any advice about that?
