I thought Seattle use to have those when I was a kid downtown.
Wish I had the $$$$$$$$$.
Love that clock.
They did but a lot of places got rid of them for some STUPID reason. If you have ever been to the Maltby Cafe, (In Maltby, Snohomish county) there is a small street corner clock in the parking lot/driveway and that one was also built by Jimmy Collier.
I have two other clocks built by him, one is a grandfather clock (not for sale) and another huge street clock (also not for sale). Let me see if I have a pic of the other street clock......
Well I can't find one durring the day so you can see the details but this is one of my favorite pics.

This one you can see both clocks, as if you had just come in our drive way.
Awesome pics. Ya know what would make those clocks better??? If they were in my yard!!!!

aka time to slop the cows, milk the hogs and egg the chickens!

Here's a question from an impatient newbie...

My flock is 2 different ages, due to a dog attack in May.

The 3 survivors of the attack were hatched in early March, and started laying in late July--Just short of 5 months. One's a barred rock, ones a wyandotte, and one is a buff orpington, and all are faithful layers. We get 3 eggs most days, 2 eggs others.

My "little girls" haven't started laying yet. The light brahma is 6 months old, and the 2 EE's and the buckeye are just shy of 5 months. None are laying yet. I KNOW the brahmas start late, but I guess I wonder if the younger set will lay at all before spring. It's not a huge biggie, as we have more than enough eggs already, but I'm just curious about how these things work. Well, that and the fact that we're dying to see what color eggs the EE's will give us! Any ideas? (Other than "just be patient." Patience and I are NOT on speaking terms!)

--Nikki
I think you are saying they are 6 months. IF that is the case I think there is a prettygood chance they may lay very soon. But yes late hatch (less than 6 months this time of year) birds will tend to not lay until spring. The most important thing to remember is that chickens have been issued a different set of books than us humans.

Today I was trying to get more stuff ready for Salem (we {PNPA and Iron Imagery} are gonna rock that town) when I hear this funny noise. I look up in time to see DW walking across the yard dragging half my tomato plants. I was going to harvest later in the day.

I ask what she is doing. Gonna feed them to the chickens

. luckily I caught her before she fed them to the chickens and possibly caused big problems.

Quote: Your poor mom. LOL Years ago I remember the first time I saw one of our pigs eat a frog. I was so grossed out as it crunched it up. I know how your mom felt. hehe.

We had to install a tall wire fence around our little apple orchard to keep the deer out. They totally ruin them otherwise. They leap over our pretty entry fence and kick out the lattice panels some times. Even some of the plants I put out that are suppose to be deer proof they will sample and spit out. So that it still ruins the deer resistant plants. One year a young buck sharpened his horns on one of our front escallonia bushes and ripped it to shreds. I could go on and on. They can drive you nuts and we have them around in large numbers. I enjoy seeing the fawns during their season but the does can be so mean tempered during that time. Chased our poor neighbor dog around the house. Neighbor feared for her dog but at the last moment it ran up on the porch with her to safety. Yep. I agree. They are giant pests for sure. ~Dee~

I remember Lash La Rue, and John Sheldon with Rex the wonder horse, The Cisco Kid,et all. . All you could get on tv seemed to be cowboys and indians - when I was a little bitty skinny thing, that's all the kids did when they played. We'd be good guys or bad guys and somebody would always rob the stagecoach (red wagon). Nobody wanted to be a girl - the cowboys kissed their horses - the women just stood around doing nothing. I had quite a collection of plastic horses and riders. A few years ago I was able to find(and buy) the same horse & rider I had as a child. Cost me 29cents at the toy store. On ebay more than 50 years later I paid $ 15.00 luckily no one bid against me. Sure wish I had my herd in present day, I could have been rich - yeah right!!

I have a couple questions. I'm thinking about feeding my chickens hay during the winter months. What kind do you feed chickens? Is there any one local who sells it? I'm looking for someone in south Snohomish county or King county.
