I found that putting the feeder a little higher up helps some.

Mine have 1/2 acre of yard to play in and they STILL do that. I nailed a rim around the feeder opening because that is supposed to keep them from flinging it and nope.. they try harder, I guess. So now I just put some in a shallow dish. If they're going to spill it everywhere anyway at least they can't spill more than a cupful at a time now.

make it the same height as their backs. Also try a piece of sod for entertainment, mine went NUTTS!!

LOL, well, they've been wasting some for quite some time now, but I've noticed that the amount of waste has gone up significantly in the last two or three days. It's like they've just figured out how to bill the crumbles out of the feeder and are having a great time flipping it out all over the floor of the brooder.

I raise the feeders as high as I can with them just being able to peck and eat and thats it! It helps some but the wasted feed is never really wasted because I throw it out to my older hens.

Yeah, I have been throwing out the ground food out into the run and they think they are geting a treat! LOL Silly chickens. They won't eat it in the coop on the floor but on the ground out in the run it IS the best stuff! Am I doing wrong??
