Wat could I say to my mom to convinc her to let me go huntin by mysef?

I don't hunt anymore, but I do go backpacking by myself. My husband isn't really big on it unless we are going in the kayaks. I always make sure that he has a copy of the directions to where I am going complete GPS coordinates. (My ma will tell you even at her age if she leaves the house without leaving a note, someone is gonna fuss!!) I don't have a cell but I do have a Personal Locator Beacon. SPOT. It lets me check in with my husband several times a day to let him know I am ok. If I don't check in 30 minutes after the appointed time, he can give my last coordinates to the authorities.

I, also, take my dog along, which won't help you in hunting unless you have bird dogs.

I do kind of lean towards the rest of these folks, not hunting alone. My brother hunted every chance he got. There was always someone along with him even if it was my SIL waiting in the car for him to come out of the woods at a certain time.

I can not give my opinon until I have more info. What kind of hunting? What type of terrain? How far in? .

Taking a stroll on the back 40 with the 22 looking for squirels, sitting in the bow stand at the edge of the field, Trying to jump a phesant in a little strip of grass on the farm.. Those are all things I did alone at your age.

Key thing is it was on our farm and my folks knew where I was. Public hunting grounds on opening day is a whole nother story! It is best to go with a buddy. Same with Gun deer hunting.

So assuming you are responsible and safe, I still would say no to going alone if it is public ground.

With that said::::::
I personally much perfer to hunt alone! I personally feel the biggest danger is not a twisted ankle or getting lost.... It is the other person with you that has a gun.....!

Ask the moms second husband or the second husbands dad what they think...... If they don't think it is a good idea then it is not.. If they do have one of them talk to your Mom.

Ditto sorry birdman

I am 47 years old and have been hunting since I was about 8... I never hunt alone. Always best to have a buddy with you.

Now if you are on your own land and your mom can see you or knows where your at as someone else stated...that is a different story. Open hunting public land...nope. There would be no convincing this mom.

Heck, I take someone with me for the simple fact that it's a whole lot easier to drag the deer out with two.

I've NOT been able to go for the past 3 years, mainly because no one wanted to go with me or take me with them. It sucks

It is always better to hunt in numbers, my husband has hunted for years, taken courses, and has also guided, my husband once stuffed a doe in to my geo tracker after i blocked his truck ( sorry for the image but ust had to show it)

ok now to get to the point of why hunting alone is dangerus , my husband was 21 when he had his hunting accedent, my husband was perched in his fav tree on a creek bottom , shifted his wieght and fell, i'm not sure how many feet he fell but it was enough to break his neck (i belive it was a c4 or 7 not sure) this happend before the time of cell phones so there was no way of getting help that way. my husband is not sure how long it took before another hunter stumbled upond him. it took him 6 months and a halo brace to recover. has it stoped him from hunting? nooooooooo, at 43 he still climbs trees, will sit there for hours , and hunt. but it is always with a buddy.

If yer goin' bird hunting or rabbit huntin' have at it...& just bring home the food fer mom to clean & cook...

Big game in OH...well, deer, right? I'd still bring someone, just in case...

You'd fit right in up here in Rural Alaska, many a kid brings home ptarmigan, grouse, rabbit, etc. for their mothers, & their mothers are nuthin' but proud of the sons...Start in the Summer, & bring some fish home & let her know you'll do the same with birds, & rabbit, squirrel...etc. & then work yer way up to deer...

Once I turned 16 my folks would let me go hunting by myself, but they didn't want to.

Now that I'm a parent, I realize my folks really had a lot of trust in me... that or they weren't that smart about hunting.
Of course I got all of the lectures.

I would NEVER let any of my kids go hunting alone and if I were to start hunting again, I'd never go alone.
I suppose wisdom comes with age.
