Do my 3 week old chicks need water in the brooder after I turn the lights off? They are in a 4x4 kennel in the garage. I have a hanging nipple waterer in there and they LOVE to play with it at night. I have put a tray to catch the drippings underneath but it will be full to the brim by morning!

I checked that the bottle is not leaking already so I know it's when they play-fight over it all at once. It's hard to keep the brooder/kennel floor dry with the mess it makes...and if the drip tray overturns:sick

Oh good! I will pick it up when I turn the lights off then and replace each morning. Thanks!

I think as long as you're an early riser it would be fine. Also maybe take out their food as well at night. I know my babies like to practice roosting on their feeder and it ends up wasting a ton of food. Plus they'll love you even more when you bring them their food in the morning :)

Oh yes <3 They loved me at first and would follow me everywhere but the more I have to move them and handle them to clean the brooder the more they hate me LOL

I removed the food and water fairly quickly in my new adventure. They were not getting any sleep with it in there. Now they are older and jump out of the brooder as soon as it gets light out to get food and water.
