Does anyone know of a good waterer for ducks that also CLEANS their drinking water? Mine always manages to leave a ton of mud in the bottom of the bowl....

If one does not exist, I might have to design one myself.... It would save me a ton of time and wasted water.

Then sell it to all of us and become rich!

I just might.... And include one with a built-in de-icer so it is functional for every season....

I'm an engineer and have invented many other products (mostly medical equipment and electronics) so don't put it past me to make something.... 😂

I have a design in mind... It would include a cycling pump that pulls the water through a filter to pull out the particulate matter (mud) and sends the filtered water back into the bowl. It has 3 components that allow it to be broken down and cleaned very easily. It can be run from standard electrical power or perhaps solar (still checking on this one). I have reached out to a potential manufacturer to see if they can help me build a prototype. The manufacturer builds submersible pumps and other similar products. They don't make anything like this but they should have enough knowledge to scale for the differences.

As I mentioned, it will also include a de-icer so it will work in all seasons.

I think a filter is probably not going to work well. Your going to need a massive expensive filter or its going to clog in a day.

Yeah, I often have an inch or more of mud at the bottom of, and some grass in, my ducks' water bucket. And I only have 3 ducks, they have two 2 gallon buckets. And they get dumped at least twice daily! My ducks could be exceptions, of course. I'm not that knowledgeable about filtration, but I have a hard time imagining a filter keeping their water clean. I'd love to be wrong!

What about something designed like one of those carpet cleaning machines that has a waste water tank. The waste water could be used to water plants.
Im just brainstorming here. No idea how well this would work.
