Water heater for Minnesota winters?

Ok that's good to hear! I know what I'm doing this weekend.
I live close to Erie Pennsylvania on a snow belt and it is pretty bad where we live and I don't want my chickens to die on my because I did stuff wrong
 
I hear ya, this is my first year with chickens as well. Its all just one giant learning process.
 
This will be the third winter for the girls’ heir Colorado. It started Monday (10/10/2014) temperature drop from 70F to 30F, overnight 9F. Now the second day the daytime temperature 6F, night -7F!!! The forecast: next Wednesday mid 40F. Unfortunately one of the girl is molting and has wary little "winter close".
The coop ( 6.5' x 4') has a moderate heater so the inside is 30F average.
The coop has R24 insulated double walls. We used simple reliable and most important SAFE heating system:

On at 35F / 2C, Off at 45F / 7C.
