Water heater thermostat HELP

I know some ppl have issues with the water heater thermostats but I dont mind giving it a try just because its convenient. My issue is that I bought one at lowes today and it looks identical to all the ones I see being used online...black box, metal back, white and red face with white dial, and two silver screws labeled #1 and #2. Its a lower thermostat...only thing I'm worried about is that it says 208 thru 480 volts and 2 pole...is this right or is there another thermostat that looks identical for the same price that is 110 volts and single pole...any help would be much appreciated....thanks.
