I know it's really early for this but I worry about dumb things haha. Come winter time I will need a water heater so the chickens water doesn't freeze. Does the heater use alot of electric while running it??

We use the heated dog dishes, the large version and place a small plastic pail of water into it. It works great. Yes, I suspect it may cost as much as $10-$20 a month to run each one, maybe even more to operate in January-March months. Our winters are very, very cold. Cost of doing business, I guess.

I use a bird bath heater to keep the water from freezing. I don't know how much it costs to run. Probably less than the grandchildren leaving the house door open for the dog.
