I have 27 rir that are 10 weeks old. It rained last nite and when i let them out this morning they ran over to the dust hole which was full of water and the jumped in and had a good time. But what makes chickens get in to water? I didnt think they like water?

Many don't, and they can't swim (they get waterlogged and sink.) But some seem to have a ball playing in mud. Good way to keep cool!

My chickens love a good mud puddle. They stomp around like big kids. What gets me is when they drink out of it

Muddy water is to fresh water like USDA choice aged beef is to 60/40 hamburger in a plastic wrap tube with pictures of hamburger on the outside.

Or so I've heard.

My splash Ameracauna doesn't like taking dust baths, she likes taking mud baths..........figures since she is mostly white........
