Water Incubating Eggs?

my smaller aquarium does not float about inside the larger i have tried

it does not contain so much water that it pushes it up

but presuming someone did im sure they could weigh it down with a rock but i dont know how that would effect temperature or air circulation with a big rock in there.

OK, floating is all about displacement.
The big rock would not effect air circulation and would be a benefit to maintaining a constant temperature as it would act like a heat sink.
Once heated up it will be very slow to cool down due to the mass so will contribute to heat transfer to the eggs.

My only thought about your idea is the humidity issue you already mentioned. If you can keep the humidity right it should work great! It would deffinately take care of the temp fluctuation issues!

Good Luck and God Bless!

super! so maybe adding a big rock would help anyhow. any ideas which type of rock is best at keeping heat?

The more dense the rock, the better it retains heat.
It's just Physics.
Sandstone will lose heat faster then slate or marble will.
Another method would be a bed of sand. Not as good at retaining heat but more then good enough.

You are welcome. Your biggest issue is still going to be the inside tank trying to float.
Automobiles will float away in 30 inches of water...

Think of a beach toy...an inflatable one. A beach ball will float in sixty feet of water, but it will also float on an inch of water exactly the same.

im going to try again tonight and see at what level water the inside tank begins to float...but as i'll now be incorperating a rock or two for the heat, i cant see it being a problem..i hopeif worse comes to the worst i can 'affix' the smaller tank into the bigger tank with a few glas blocks and silicone

that'll keep it in place!

Ok very interesting on the part with the egg not living in the water. I didnt know that eggs were
so to speak full of holes. what if you were to place the egg in a zip lock bag? with a weight to hold it underwater?
and kept it there for 18 days?? would that be ok? or would the chick sufficate? ??
