first off. im using 3 inch PVC pipe with ABS caps and a one inch latex hose connected to a 19L plastic pale.

for those with experience with them i bought 30 nipples on ebay and im having some serious issues with them leaking? anyone have this issue? if yes? how did you solve it.

my off. its leaking at the joints in the pale. and at the nipples at the 3inch. and the glue at the caps apparently didnt work either and is leaking. im rather frustrated.

advice? is it leaking more now because of the air exchange? will it settle down? ive only "tested" it not left it at full status so far. which means its pushing air out still.

i figured this would be a LOT easier than its been im on here after 3 attempts at fixing the leakage.

My husband just built my waterer over the weekend and we have no leaks so far. We used a union bought at Home Depot to connect it to the bucket. From there we used 3/4" pvc. We used the threaded style nipples. My husband used a an R drill (.339) to drill the holes in the pvc. He threaded the nipples in after wrapping them with plumbers tape. So far so good and no leaks.

To glue the caps he first used the purple primer then the blue cement glue.

I'm not sure if this helps but maybe if you hear how someone else did it. Good luck!

Flyawayca has done it correctly. A bulkhead fitting is needed for the pail, and cleaner/primer is necessary before the cement to properly seal the PVC. The nipples are more than likely 1/8" NPT, so if the holes are drilled and tapped the right diameter, thread sealant should be used-either teflon tape or thread compound on them as well as on the threads at the connection to the bulkhead fitting.
I have a 15 gallon drum on the roof of the coop feeding through 3/4" hose to a 1" pipe header with 6 nipples for 10 hens. My nipples came with O-rings to seal against the header, so using thread sealant on them wasn't necessary.

ive done all of the above as well. im not sure why im having so many issues, im sick of it, so ive changed from cement glue and bought a food grade silicone tube, i'm just going to caulk every inch of all the joints.

my nipples came with gaskets as well, but they leaked, so i used plumber's tape and they still leaked.

im using electrical conduit and its a bit thicker than all the examples on here, so i assume thats my problem, because the larger conduit has thicker walls something is happening that does not mesh with everyone else's experience. either way. silicone will solve it.
