Yesterday, I received the Brite-Tap Chicken Waterer that I'd ordered last week. I've got it installed on a brand new Igloo water cooler but now our weather has turned and it's 2 degrees outside right now. Since I don't have a heater for it, I'll wait until the weekend when it's in the 30's and 40's to try it out. Maybe this weekend I'll try to find a submersible aquarium heater that'll keep it thawed when our temps dip back to zero early next week. I'll sure be glad when spring hits. This is extremely unusual weather for Missouri.

We bought an immersion pump at Tractor Supply. Be careful of aquarium pumps - they're usually glass and if they break....

Immersion pump or heater? I don't need a pump. I need a heater. I bought a stock tank heater but it requires a copper ground rod be attached to it. Not going to work with a water cooler. A good aquarium heater shouldn't break and if it did, it wouldn't get to the chickens.
