If she refuses to give up you could put her in a wire bottom cage to cool off her chest and break her broodiness. I don't have such cage so was thinking of sneaking her a chick at night and hoping for the best. If doesn't work will have to keep getting her out of coop and hope she gives up.

Hey just to update... Did the gloat and they floated perfectly as though there was something inside, candeled them again and saw clearly a large air pocket. Decided to break them open to see what happened- expected to see a half formed chick but was just a really watery yolk!! So confused!
Any who, now to get my girl back to health and focus on her! Thanks for all the help

Floating only means it's an old egg. If it moves on its own in the water, bobs and wiggles like a fishing bobber with a worm under it and fish nibbling, then it's alive. If it doesn't, it may be alive.

We have one quail egg that went to lockdown, it's day 25 now with no pip, we were going to give up but water tested, and then it was a low floater and moving around so still alive, at this point do you think it's just late? We're confused but it's our first hatch and only the one made it to this point, any idea if we should let it continue? It's alive, but still hasn't piped and super late..but alive..??
