I have a gloche type waterer, it holds about 1 1/2 quart of water.
Suddenly it seems to not hold water anymore. It was bone dry, safe for an IOU in the trough over the course of a few hours.
I filled it back up yesterday evening, and again, this morning it was dry.
I only have 5 chickens, and the water usually lasts a day, sometimes two, if they don't kick up so much dirt.

A visual inspection didn't show a reason.
Is that a common failure in this type of waterer?
This is the style, I don't know where my husband ordered it from

Your not imagining things lol. Sounds like and look for a small to hairline crack or puka in the white, tank portion of waterer. Do you recal an accident with the waterer? Chicken drama, knocked over or slightly dropped? I do not have that specific kind but of waterer but sounds like what it may be as it has happened to a few of my other brands. One specific that I no longer use because of.

**Sometimes can repair with fiberglass.

I think it got knocked around at least once.
I have filled up the other one where I can replace the tank with a Mason jar if needed.
I will inspect the gloche part, see what's cooking.

I did buy some of the water nipples, I just need to build the waterer now
Golly, the buckets with the nipples on already are quite pricy!.
Ridiculous no?! I finally found a brand that I like and lasts so the investment finally paid off but I did keep replacing a bad product for awhile... :/ different conditions make some good waters not so good for me I guess.

Any sort of grit in the "sealing area" will cause an issue with these.

The other thing is, are they bumping into it? Stepping on one side of it, bumping the underside (if it's hanging)? I couldn't figure out why the one I was using at first kept emptying. It was them messing with it, lol. Then it became imbalanced as it got lower and the water would pool on one side and cause it to empty quicker.

I have it sitting on a couple of bricks. They are notorious for sitting on the feeder and whatnot.
I gave it a good scrubbing and it seems to have resolved the problem.
Keeping my fingers crossed.
