if your talking about adults gerbil waterers work great for small numbers except that you have to fill them alot.

Mine love paint roller pans! Nice and wide and shallow. For the littlies its just a normal quart waterer with marbles in it.

Reminds me, I have to go check on one pen, made a waterer yesterday with a ss sauce pan and a garlic tub. They are the only ones a paint tray wont fit and they have been going through LOTS of little water containers per day with the heat.

thanks for the replys. I had adult birds drowning in the chick waterers

maybe some are just not as smart as others. I have rabbits but I had not thought of using the water bottles for the quail. I put a rock filled container in their cage and rabbit bottles on the side so maybe they'll figure them out.
