Waterers

I found some waterers for chickens on Craigslist. I thought about using them for the ducklings I will be getting in the near future.

This person has glass and plastic ones. Which do you think would be better for ducks? I don't want them to possibly hit it and break or anything, but will plastic hold up with them?

I have the pastic kind, for my ducklings and chicks. It gets grimy inside....not sure if the glass would or not. Though remeber ducks need to be able to dip their whole beak into the water, I put a seperate small dish in my pen for the ducklings to do this.

Either would do, I think it's more personal choice.. we have a small plastic one.. it's such a short lived item.. ducklings grow fast and soon need deeper containers to clear out the nares..

i personally hate commercial waterers because it allows ducks to make a huge mess.
i take a butterbowl with a lid and cut a section of the lid. a half circle. big enough for heads to fit but not bodies.
put a rock in the bottom and it can not be tipped.


as they get bigger upgrade accordingly.

Oh, I never thought of that. I was thinking of how to make a one so I don't have to spend the money, because of what going quackers said, they grow too fast.
I will do that.
