WATERFOWL EGG CHAIN ANYONE??

vicki2x2

It's hard to keep track but yes I have the American Lavenders. I don't have any Blue yet but I have some of yours in the bator.

I have not seen any other BYC member with the Lavenders or Blues.

Ok, thanks. I was thinking someone else had some, but I guess not. My lavenders from you both quit early on me for some reason. Dang it! I might have to try some more soon. Have you hatched some of yours? I do have some of my blues still growing and one buff. Due to hatch on the 16th.

The good news of the day? I found one more muscovy egg in my goose nest, so I was able to send an extra egg and then 2 of my muscovy girls came home!!

I think they were in hiding after what happened to the others. So, from now on, they will be shut in every night, as much as they hate it, and boy do they. I had hoped they would be ok, since they were totally fenced, in the same pasture as my blue pair, who are quite the watch dogs and we haven't had any problems in the past. Evidently not.

Vicki

I have some of the Lavenders in the incubator. All 6 of my goose eggs due to hatch this week did not hatch. I opened the eggs last night and all but one made it to full term then did not pip. It was way to wet in the eggs so I would say to much humidity. With the high attitude here in Colorado, I have found that I have to lower the humidity from recommended on the chicken eggs so I would say from my results on the goose eggs that I need to do the same with goose eggs. My broody hens had a lot better results so I will go back to using broodys.

The blue I have from you will be at day 7 tomorrow and I will candle and see if they are developing.

I need to check my eggs again, maybe tonight if I remember. Last week when I checked, I had 6 doing well, so hopefully they are all still going strong. This is my first attempt at goose eggs. so I am holding my breath!
