Waterfowl Feed

@Ducks4us
I would love to see photos of them! So Metzer just emailed back, that in order to have 1 gosling, I would have to have a straight run, so they won't be sexed. So instead of Buff, I will just go with pilgrim. I want a girl because I want to use the eggs for cooking and such and also, I want a little princess baby. I love the white chinese, they look like dinosaurs and sound like them, but too loud for where I will be living. What are there names?

oh yes like pilgrims too! they are pretty!
my geese i boight from the local farm and feed but they ordered from metzer i was told. so they were straight run, looks like i have a pair tho. one girl and one boy- so i named him Norman, and her- meredith

@Ducks4us OMG they are so cute! I think the white chinese breed is beauty. I love how majestic they look. Do you keep them indoors at a young age? I know they get loud loud. You don't mind that?

I have been brooding them outside in one side of the duck house. I spend alot of time with them during the day. And when the weather is nice they are out in the yard They really dont like it too hot. They have a heat lamp and i keep one area around 70 but at this age they have such thick down feathers they do great in the cooler temps.
Today its 60 outside and they are happily roaming the yard.
We are out of city limits. We have a couple close neighbors but noboy behind our property.
So far they arent noisy.
But we have 12 noisy girl ducks.
I dont mind the noise :) i enjoy listening to them.
The neighbors have noisy dogs, and the others have about 10 real noisy goats.
And i can hear geese from a place across the creek from us.
So we are okay with the noise

Yes very imprinted. They definatly think im their mom. Its hard leaving them outside when they are screaming because i left but they settle down after a little bit.
And they have to get used to it since they will be living outside!

Aww, my little hear would break. I can't wait to get mines. I am nervous that Metzer will try to give me a male since it will be a straight run. Do you know if a gander will be aggressive in mating season if it's just him and me?

From what i understand yes he probably would be come very possesive of you. . But females can get agressive during mating season as well from what i have heard.
Your situation may be different since yours will be so well socialized in public

I have used Purina Flock Raiser for 5.5 years with my ducks and geese with no problems. Maurzi waterfowl feed if you can get. It is formulated for well waterfowl so it should have more niacin. Then you would not have to worry about adding brewers yeast or niacin. I think you will love your American buff. My buffs are really laid back. My gander is not mean at all and it is breeding season. I got my buffs from Metzers. Not at all what I was expecting.
