Waterfowl Feed

I have used Purina Flock Raiser for 5.5 years with my ducks and geese with no problems. Maurzi waterfowl feed if you can get. It is formulated for well waterfowl so it should have more niacin. Then you would not have to worry about adding brewers yeast or niacin. I think you will love your American buff. My buffs are really laid back. My gander is not mean at all and it is breeding season. I got my buffs from Metzers. Not at all what I was expecting.

@Happy Quack I called Metzer and they said since I only want one, it will be a straight run so I wouldn't know if I have a gander or goose. I really want a goose, for fear of aggression during mating season. It will be with me all the time and never be alone, so I don't know how a gander will react. I do want a buff, but I also thought maybe a pilgrim since they are auto sexed.

From what i understand yes he probably would be come very possesive of you. . But females can get agressive during mating season as well from what i have heard.
Your situation may be different since yours will be so well socialized in public

Yep we have 12 ducklings who are 8 and 9 weeks old
10- female runner ducks from metzer
2- khaki campbells also female
And we have 4 dogs and a hairless sphynx kitty.
Quite the assortment over here

My husband and i both work from home so that makes it really nice and we are able to really enjoy all our animals !

@Ducks4us That is so awesome! I'm jelly. I would love some property to have lots of animals. But I am okay with just one.

Have you ever had any other chickens or ducks?
I think you will really enjoy the bond you will have with your goose! I find it highly relaxing and theraputic to just sit out in the grass with them. I could watch them for hours and hours.

@Ducks4us This is my first poultry or fowl. I am so excited. I thought Buff or Pilgrim would be a great for a beginner. I can't wait to go for walks and just watch her graze. Do you babies have any favorite treats?

Oh well thats very exciting then. You will be amazed at how fast they grow!
Nothing makes mine as happy as grass and dirt lol.
They prefer that over anything else.
I put a big clump of dirt with grass on it in their brooder to keep them busy when im not wig them. The grass is off in about 20 minutes and then they eat the dirt !
And water.. they also love playing in water

Not as much as ducks but they still love it.
They always need deep enough water to dunk their heads since thats how they keep their eyes and nose clean.
But they arent near as messy as ducklings haha.

@Ducks4us Yes I have been absorbing all information there is on geese and taking care of them. I think I watch minimum of five youtube videos of geese everyday. I wish people made more videos. I know I will make a snapchat and instagram page for her, hehe.

Lol i have my own geese and i still watch videos of them all day ! Haha
