It's sitting on a block?Alrighty its 100% finished i got an installed the heater
And off the ground. By raising it you prevent them scattering debris into the water. I had one so full of run floor litter there was no way to get a drink. A good rule of thumb is raise it to the height of a chickens back. You need to get those nipples up closer to beak height.
Not as issue with nipples. And off the ground. By raising it you prevent them scattering debris into the water. I had one so full of run floor litter there was no way to get a drink. A good rule of thumb is raise it to the height of a chickens back.
Ah!! I didn’t expand the photo. With my eyes I thought it had the cup type nipples. Not as issue with nipples.
....and they can drink OK down low, mine drink out of the chick nipples all the time, but higher would be better.
It's sitting on a block?
Might put a bigger block, or more blocks, under so it sits a bit higher.
I would put the heater on the bottom...
...or make darn sure you top it off daily so heater is not exposed to air.
Moved the heater to the bottom an gonna put it up one more block
@Kusanar I have never heard of a 'power float'....available commercially?Just to be on the safe side, I would put a float in the bucket at the height of the top of the heater and fix it so the heater is powered through the float. If the water drops too low, the float drops which cuts power to the heater. Then you will just have a block of ice with a heater in it rather than a melted bucket and possibly a fire.
