@Kusanar I have never heard of a 'power float'....available commercially?

It's the same device that is on a sump pump. Sump pumps come on when the water gets to a certain level and turn off when it gets below a certain point. I did a search and came up with several potential matches from places like McMaster-Carr who sell to commercial but also to everyone else.

Well tonight will be the big test for the DIY heated waterer, temps are at -2 and dropping coldest its been scince i putt it together ill report back in the mornin on it!

Well it worked to my satisfaction! So out of eight horizontal nipples only two froze, an the inside was fine a little frost on the inside of the lid an walls but the water was good an the other nipples where still working an it was -12 when i woke up!

Are these nipples leaking?
Might want to insulate the vessel.
