Watering cups with or without brackets???????

I meant to add that if you use them in freezing weather definitely use the clamps on the tubing. If it doesn't freeze and you have the correct size tubing the clamps aren't needed but the freeze thaw cycle worked the tubing off of one of mine and when it thawed the house filled with water.

So far I'm only using them in my breeder coops that have no more than 5 birds per unit so each unit has one cup fed by a 55 gallon food grade plastic drum that had pickles in it and a network of the tubing. I have a couple more drums so I plan on using them to water all the other buildings.
I fill the drum, add de-chlorinator, organic ACV and a probiotic powder and clean the drum out every 6 months.

This seems like what I might need for my ducks. Do you know if ducks can drink from these? And the drum doesn't create too much pressure for the cups? Do you have to keep the drum sealed with an airtight lid or can it be open topped?

Hello This is the system I have in my run, a single 10' length of 3/4" pvc holds 5 watering cups. My problem is the chicks seem to be having a problem figuring out exactly how they work. If I place water in the cups they will drink but once they drink it all, it seems they don't know to hit the yellow lever to add more water. But other then that I like the system.

Ducks may be able to use the chick cup in the last link I posted but I doubt they could use the one in my pictures because they narrow down so small at the bottom. When the chicken puts their beak all the way down is when they activate the valve.

I'll try to take and post a picture of how mine is set up but it is elevated and laying on it's side with the fine thread bung on the bottom and the coarse thread bung on top for filling. I have a vent plumbed into the top so it doesn't create a vacuum and a shutoff and drain plumbed into the bottom so I can drain and clean the system.

That's nice. I've also found that chicks can't use it but I plan on buying some of the chick water types in my last link for my brooder house.
I believe the way they work is that their head activates the valve.

Yes they are suppose to peck at the yellow swivel arm which allows water to seep out but so far they ... "Water Cup Challenged" LOL But then again these are the same SexLink chicks who refuse to leave the coop if it's under 45 degrees.

Can I just screw these into bottles like the nipples? I have 2 brodders in the coop that I would like to put these in.

I would have to think you could screw those directly to a bottle as long as the threads seal around the bottle cap, you now you raised my interest on that now. I have to clean the water bucket mine are connected to so maybe I'll try that and see how it works. I'll get back when I give it a try. KWS

Without.

I have a PVC pipe with a nice thick PVC end cap that I've screwed the cups into (with teflon tape around the threads and caulking around the cup to keep it water sealed).
