watering cups

Our chickens drink from the cups if I fill them with water. However once the water is gone they won't peck at the yellow tabs to refill the cups. Any suggestions?

hold a couple of them and gently use their beek to peck at them

I just installed some myself yesterday. Keep me updated on how it goes. They do seem rather hard to push down in my opinion. But maybe the birds can do it.
