Watering my flock

I don't have a picture, but I can get one if you really need it.

It is a simple thing I fashioned for my 2-month-old chicks. I took a quart tub that once held potato salad. It is about 7 inches tall. Right at the bottom I used a hole drill to put 3 one-inch holes on the sides. I sat the tub on the lid of a gallon ice cream bucket and screwed down through the tub and lid onto a piece of plywood for weight and stability. Done.

You could easily cement on a threaded male fitting on the end, and use a closed female cap that threads right onto that. That would make it easier to clean out.

Yes, I thought about that. Too much work.

BeccaOH,

My brain thanks you. By the way someone on here suggested to go to a grocery store bakery section to get free buckets. I got three great buckets with lids just for asking, they get icing in them.

I've gotten 5-gallon buckets from a grocery bakery, but I had to pay for them at both stores. $.75 at one without lids and $1.50 at the other with lids. My Wal-mart says they "recycle" their buckets.

Check out the bucket waterer rbd171 made here https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=179975&p=3. I'm definitely trying that one. I priced the PVC for the one here and figured I'd do better buying the premade ones at TSC.
