How do you teach them to drink from them? I have several set up but they still use the water fountain.
Do i need to remove it? It sure is hot here in SC and would hate make them suffer for water.
We removed the other waterer and tapped the nipples until there was a drop of water on the end and flicked one of the three nipples, just to make them curious. We have several hens who are especially curious and get into everything we do. So as we hung the bucket, they were watching.
I don't know if it makes a difference, but we hung the new waterer with the nipples in the same place as the original waterer, just higher.
From there, as some have said, 'Monkey see, monkey do.' Once one or two do it, the others will do it. The Roos were slower than the hens, but all within the first few hours.
We kept the original waterer handy, just in case anyone looked dehydrated or in distress, but didn't need it.
Hope this helps.
