We've had heavy rain here and more to come.

About half of the girls' run is muddy.

Do these conditions create any kind of disease risk? DH doesn't think it's a problem.

It will make them uphappy & uncomfortable. Diseases are possible with standing water and fecal matter. Put some milk crates and other things in there for them to get up off the ground. Chickens dislike being wet.

A tarp over part of the run with a thick layer of wood shavings under it works well. I also use wooden pallets tossed around. They are cheap, easy to come by and can be reused for multiple purposes.

My chickens are princesses and HATE getting their feet wet.

Thanks JennsPeeps! and CMV. That's what I thought, but then I'm a newbie.

Now to convince DH...
