My chickens love watermelon, and they get the rinds all summer. In fact, there's a tub of rinds sitting in the fridge right this moment, for tomorrow's treats. I also use cantaloupe and honeydew rinds. Any melon is edible, and the chooks pick the fruit right to the hard outer rind. They would eat that too if they could.
