Waterproof sealant for wood coop?

Good ole paint. A good house paint for wooden coops.

I like barn paint. It's made to go on over rough wood with no primer required.

Granted, the color choices are limited, but I like the traditional red and white so I'm good with that.

I used polyurethane deck sealant. It’s apparently safe to use in swimming pools and ponds. Same deal as anything else, make sure it’s dried for the recommended time from the manufacturer. I used it in the chicken coop and the quail house and it’s holding up very well.

Sometimes you can get a better deal on the not so popular colors, which is why I got this brown. Haha.

Any good wood paint or sealant should be benign once it is fully cured.

Thanks for all the replies guys! Found a good brand at home depot. It's child/pet safe and waterproof so should be good.

I ended up getting polyurethane, but it was water based. Oil based claims it's toxic to everything. The water based dries non-toxic.
