Hi,
A few days ago I separated out a 6 week old barred rock because of a broken beak and the subsequent pecking at the wound by the rest of the chickens.
For the first two days the isolated chick rarely ate (I'm assuming a broken beak hurts or is difficult to eat with). Then she would eat oatmeal and scrambled eggs. Yesterday she looked to be pecking at the regular feed. She has electrolytes in her water because she looks to be drinking less than usual. I added probiotics to her feed hoping that would help.
She has watery poo and the rest looks like mushy feed. I can actually hear her pooping! Is this a result of the change in diet or is she sick?
She's isolated in a smaller pen so it's hard to monitor her usual activity level. She's been very vocal- all sorts of bird noises- when I visit her, otherwise she is pretty quiet and still. She occasionally makes a yawning motion with her mouth.
