Hey guys! So I have a Buff Orpington who has molted. She molted about a month ago and I am pretty positive all of her feathers have come back. She looks nice and puffy now. I have noticed that she has had diarrhea for quite a while now. I have no idea what it is and I'm afraid it might be something a little more serious than it seems. She has had runny poop for a couple months now. That's a moth before she started molting and she still has runny poop. I can get a picture of the poop if necessary. Thanks!!

She may have an intestinal infection or worms, or could be drinking a lot of water. I would take a few fresh droppings in for a vet to test for coccidiosis overload and worms. Try some probiotics for animals, or give a tsp daily of plain yogurt for a week, then twice a week.

I don't think she has coccidiosis. She looks perfectly healthy and acts like it too. There is no blood in her poop. She has plenty of energy and seems like normal to me. I can check her poop once more fro any blood. I have broken the poop open and there are little flakes of clear something in there. She doesn't look tired and doesn't act odd. Her comb is a nice deep red along with her waddles. Thanks!!

I was also wondering how to naturally deworm a chickens. I don't feel comfortable using all those chemicals and haven't dewormed my chickens in a year. I didn't know this procedure should be done. Thanks!

First, it would be good to know if she has worms, by getting a fecal float. Only roundworms can be seen in poop, as most other worms or worm larvae cannot be seen without a microscope. There are many who claim that various things will treat worms, but there are no studies to prove that those natural products will work. All chickens will get some worms, and healthy chickens usually can tolerate that, but if there is an overload, or they have a problem with immunity, you may want to use albazen or SafeGuard.

I am going to correct myself now. I am pretty sure she has some sort of worms. She has lost A LOT of weight. When I touched her breast to make sure she wasn't losing weight, I discovered that her breast was just bone. She has had watery poop and has not been laying. She looks perfectly healthy besides that. I don't know how to treat my whole flock. I only have three chickens. An Orpington, Golden Sex-Link, and a Cochin. The Cochin is super tiny just to say. I do have a goat dewormer. It is safe-guard (fenbendazole) goat dewormer. How much should I give my chickens? Thanks!

I don't want to go get a fecal float because I don't want to spend the money on it. So I'm wanting to use something that will most likely get rid of almost any kind of worm. Should I eat the eggs my chickens lay after treatment? Thanks!!

I would treat for coccidiosis first...
