Wattle fence

No, wait, I was talking about bamboo to someone.  LOL.  Sorry.  I am in the process of looking for the hazelnut saplings right now.

Check Musser Forest website I am pretty sure that I got some from them. They were bare root so they would be best planted in the Fall. Hazelnuts are naturally Shrubby.

Well, rain here in the Southland. Looking for a break in the weather, but it looks bleak. No bamboo til next week.

WAIT!! Break in the weather, got everyone lined up, leaving to get bamboo! I'll let you know what happens this evening.

Got the bamboo. When we got there, I thought, "There isn't much. Maybe I can find some more elsewhere." I only cut about 1/3 and filled my trailer.

We had to make my daughter's boyfriend stand on it and compact it to get the chains across to bring it home.

Trimming it is fine. You need a machette. I only have a hatchet, it works, but a machette would be better. I wove it through my posts, and it went fine for a while. It pops and cracks, but I think its ok. I finished the short side.

I started the other side, but got frustrated. I put the posts too close together. I am fixing that tomorrow. It will be fine, then. More pics tomorrow.
For those trying to build one, I put the posts on 16" centers. I think 20-24" will work fine.

It seems that PVC pipe cutters would work well on bamboo

I will try the PVC cutter this evening Hagar3. I didn't think about it. I have the kind that looks like a racheting knife and the kind with a wheel cutter that you spin round and round.

Good to know about the post spacing. Guess that all depends on the flexibility of the material woven.
It does. With the bamboo, I think my original spacing would work if I had split the bamboo or something like that. The pressure on the stalks was really high, and some of them started to pop and snap. I decided to change the spacing today. Waiting for rain to stop so I can go to work out there.

Either would probably work. I was thinking ofmthe racheting knife type.
