Entry #1
Meet Tassels seen here sending me death rays for locking her in the broody buster cage and packing ice blocks around her.
This was after she had been broody for over 6 weeks. I wouldn’t mind except she only leaves her nest if I forcibly remove her.
It is rumored that Tassels lays a beautiful army-green egg, but she does so only rarely because as soon as there are eggs in a nest (anyone’s eggs) she goes broody.
Such is her dominion over me that I eventually gave in and drove 8 hours to get chicks for her.
She was a fabulous mother and will always be special to me because she allowed me to experience (from a safe distance) the magic of a hen raising chicks.
