I'm new here. We're currently looking for a home to buy and the first order of business will be adopting some chickies. I'm mostly here to find out about different areas we're looking in (to find out their rules about backyard flocks - I know some areas around here don't allow them, which won't do at all!) and then for the wealth of information that I'm sure you all can provide me with regards to setting up their house and specific info on breeds, etc.

First you will want to call your local town hall and they can tell you all you need to know about whether or not you can keep them and how many. You can also stop by our Local Chicken Laws And How To Change Them section to see if you county is talked about here....

Orpington's are my first choice actually. I'd like some Olive Eggers too.

HAHA - our realtor isn't much for being helpful. I'm considering a switch in that department currently because I work long hours and often don't have time to sit and look for listings on my own. This is a whole 'nother topic though. ;-)
