WAY off topic but I need help or advice.

I don't think the bowl is valuable. It was given to me 35 years ago when I let a country storekeeper's daughter ride to work with me (40 miles) for a week while their car was down. He climbed up and took it down from a top shelf in his store where it apparently wasn't selling, and gave it to me in thanks. But that is the type of bowl it is--where the color is chipping off, rather than really in the glass, which is what it's supposed to look like it is.

Be careful before you remove the paint. I'm an antique dealer and I can tell you the some "fired on" (this is the term for pieces with the color "painted" on)
pieces are valuable even with some chipping. If you can post a picture I can probably tell you if it's worth saving.
Indiana glass did a lot of "fired" glass in the 60's and some of the pieces are worth quite a bit. Even with some chipping.

Try running it through the dishwasher, that might help it to come off, I've always heard to never put any thing into a dishwasher that you want to protect, so it's worth a try.
